Role Overview

The Director of Capital Markets (CMA) is the head of EMx Lending’s commercial and multifamily mortgage brokerage business, leading efforts in lender relations, loan structuring, and strategic financing placement for these asset classes. This role is responsible for expanding and managing relationships with commercial and multifamily lenders, including banks, credit unions, life insurance companies, private lenders, and CMBS lenders, while also building and leading a team of Capital Markets Advisors (CMAs).

This role requires a seasoned commercial finance expert with deep underwriting expertise and strong nationwide lender relationships—likely coming from a background as a commercial banker or commercial mortgage broker. Over time, the Director of Capital Markets will be expected to grow and manage a team of CMAs, ensuring EMx Lending remains a leading brokerage firm for complex commercial and multifamily financing solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead EMx Lending’s commercial & multifamily mortgage brokerage division, separate from its 1-4 unit correspondent lending business.

• Develop and expand lender relationships with banks, credit unions, life insurance companies, private debt funds, and CMBS lenders.

• Oversee capital markets strategy and execution, ensuring access to the most competitive financing for borrowers.

• Structure and place commercial and multifamily loans, assisting Directors and Managing Directors as needed.

• Recruit, train, and manage a team of Capital Markets Advisors (CMAs) to scale the firm’s commercial and multifamily brokerage operations.

• Assess complex borrower profiles and determine optimal loan structures to secure financing.

• Stay ahead of market trends in capital markets, debt pricing, and lender appetite to position EMx Lending as a top-tier brokerage firm.

• Support Directors and Managing Directors with deal structuring and lender negotiations to ensure successful loan closings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred (Business, Finance, Real Estate, or related field).

• 7+ years of experience in commercial mortgage lending, commercial banking, or capital markets.

• Strong underwriting expertise in commercial real estate finance and structured finance transactions.

• Established relationships with nationwide lenders across multiple capital sources.

• Proven track record of closing commercial and multifamily deals through lender placement and structured finance strategies.

• Experience leading a team and mentoring professionals in capital markets or commercial finance.
